Thursday Night Men’s League
Overview
Settlers Crossing Golf Course will be starting at the end of April for practice rounds, weather permitting. Dues will remain at $175.00 for the season. Active GHIN and dues will be due by May 1st .
We need to know who will be playing this year and the name of your partner as soon as possible. Please fill out the registration portion of this page below, and if you have a partner, please have them fill out a form as well. If you need a partner, write in “NEED PARTNER” in the Partner’s Name line on the form below. We will help finding you a partner that wants to play. If you know someone other than your partner, who wants to play in the league, give them Darin’s phone number (978-660-4613); give them a copy of this form, or have them sign-up at the course.
Out of Bounds and Lost balls
Fairway borders of stone walls on Holes 1, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are OB. Drop a ball within two club lengths of point of entry but not closer to the hole. This is a one stroke penalty.
Prizes
Closest to the pin starts the first week on holes 2 and 7. Please mark the sheet at the hole and scorecard with your name/distance from the hole. Prizes for low Net (individual/team) and Gross (individual/team) will start week 3. Weekly prizes will be posted on the board and Facebook page. Contact Darin Storms to collect your prize. Subs will not be eligible for weekly prizes. Only matches played during their scheduled week are eligible for the weekly prizes.
Scoring
There are 2 points per hole, 18 points per match-2 pts for winning the hole, 1 point for a half, 0 points for losing the hole. We will be providing each team with a match scorecard, with handicap strokes already marked on the cards, for each match. Each team should maintain a scorecard for all four players and compare after each hole. Home team (team listed on top of the scorecard is the home team) is responsible for the official scorecard to be turned in. All four players should sign the official card showing that they agree with the scores.
Teams cannot cancel a scheduled match to play a make-up match. If that occurs both teams will forfeit their points for that match. Please call the pro shop to set up a tee time. A reminder keep in mind the course has leagues that play on Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening.
Make-ups
All teams have 14 days to make up a cancelled match (unless it is weather related).
Handicaps
Since we have many new players this year, handicaps will be adjusted accordingly over the first three weeks. If you have a handicap please let us know, and if not, let us know your average score for 9 holes at Settlers Crossing. If you are new to the league, please make an effort to play in the practice rounds for your handicap. We will use your GHIN Handicap, or your average scoring at Settlers Crossing as a starting handicap. Our new league scoring software program will update handicaps regularly, using the USGA Handicapping formula.
Pace of play
If you cannot see the group in front of you, you are playing too slow! Please keep in mind when looking for lost balls, keep the search to a minute or two. If you cannot find your ball please drop one in play and carry on with a one stroke penalty. The league will be much more enjoyable if we keep rounds to 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
Fees
League fee is $175 per player. Fee is to be paid when registration form is turned in before May 1st. Green/Cart fee is weekly. Prices for Greens Fees and Cart Fees have been frozen at last year’s levels for the upcoming season.
