Settlers Crossing Golf Course is the premiere golf facility in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, a quaint community with a history that dates back to the early 1700s. In those days, Lunenburg included the area that is now Lunenburg, Fitchburg and part of Ashby. The Meeting House, which was the hub of all civic and religious activity in the colonial era, was located in the present day Lunenburg Center. Settlers from the western parts of the town, which are now Fitchburg, used to travel more than six miles for Sunday services and other civic meetings at the house. They traveled over the “Old Northfield Road,” which runs through our golf course — thus the name, Settlers Crossing Golf Course.
